Modern Slavery Statement for Finchley Man and Van

This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Finchley Man and Van to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting our business ethically and with integrity, and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not occur in any part of our business.

Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy

Finchley Man and Van has a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour and any form of exploitation. We expect the same high standards from all those we work with, including employees, subcontractors, suppliers and other business partners. Any suspected involvement in modern slavery by an individual or organisation associated with us will be treated as a serious breach of our values and standards and may result in termination of contracts or working relationships.

We recognise that the transport, logistics and relocation sectors can be exposed to risks relating to vulnerable workers. We therefore take proactive steps to assess and mitigate these risks and to promote fair and safe working conditions across our business activities.

Our Organisation and Supply Chain

Finchley Man and Van provides man and van and related transport services. Our operations involve drivers, removal operatives, administrative staff and a network of suppliers and subcontractors that provide vehicles, equipment, fuel, uniforms, storage services and other operational support.

We aim to build long-term relationships with reputable suppliers and subcontractors who share our commitment to ethical working practices. We seek to work only with organisations that comply with applicable labour, employment and human rights laws, and that can demonstrate responsible business conduct.

Supplier Standards and Audits

To help prevent modern slavery in our supply chain, Finchley Man and Van is developing and implementing supplier standards that require:

Compliance with all relevant employment, labour and human rights legislation, prohibition of forced, bonded or involuntary labour, prohibition of child labour, fair pay and working hours, and safe and hygienic working conditions.

We reserve the right to carry out supplier assessments and audits, either directly or through competent third parties, to evaluate compliance with these standards. Where appropriate, we may request documentation, carry out site visits or seek written confirmations to verify that suppliers have effective policies and controls in place to prevent modern slavery.

If a supplier or subcontractor is found to be involved in modern slavery or unable or unwilling to take corrective action, Finchley Man and Van may suspend or terminate the relationship.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Finchley Man and Van encourages all employees, workers, contractors and other partners to report any concerns or suspicions relating to modern slavery or human trafficking as soon as they arise. Concerns may include signs of coercion, control over identity documents, restriction of movement, intimidation, or unsafe and exploitative working conditions.

Reports can be made to line managers, senior management or through internal reporting mechanisms established by the company. We will treat all concerns seriously, investigate them promptly where appropriate, and maintain confidentiality as far as reasonably possible. No person will suffer retaliation or detrimental treatment for raising a concern in good faith about modern slavery or suspected exploitation.

Training, Awareness and Responsibility

Responsibility for implementing this statement and related procedures rests with the senior management of Finchley Man and Van. Managers are expected to promote awareness of modern slavery risks and to ensure that staff under their supervision understand our zero-tolerance stance.

We will provide guidance and, where necessary, training to relevant employees so they can identify signs of modern slavery and know how to respond to concerns. This may include awareness of high-risk situations in recruitment, subcontracting and supplier selection.

Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement

Finchley Man and Van is committed to continually improving our approach to combating modern slavery and human trafficking. We will monitor the effectiveness of our policies and procedures through ongoing supplier assessments, incident reviews and feedback from staff and partners.

This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains up to date, reflects any changes in legislation, guidance or our business operations, and incorporates lessons learned from our practical experience. Where necessary, we will update our practices, guidance and contractual requirements to strengthen our defences against modern slavery.

This statement has been approved by the management of Finchley Man and Van and constitutes our Modern Slavery Statement for the relevant financial year.
